STATICAL DYNAMISM - THE TROUBLE WITH JONATHAN

One could not but evoke the notion of the 'busy fool' when appraising the tame efforts of this government at tackling the mountain of problems facing our country. This government is quite adept at giving the impression of making things happen, or trying to make things happen, when in fact it is dipping even lower into the abyss. It is evident that this government is confusing action with motion, the very attribute of the busy fool. It is giving the impression of dynamism, albeit in a static mode; running on the same spot and not spotting much. That is the trouble with our dear Jonathan who has come to be the embodiment of the politics of statical dynamism. To those readers familiar with this blog, it isn't a new habit of this writer to seek to highlight the root of the problems we collectively face as a nation. It is also very clear that all Nigerians, and indeed the wider world, know that without clearing the deck of the heinously venal class of politicians and public officials, we can never reach the promised land. Clear as mud. I am yet to come across a turkey that would vote for Christmas; so to expect the vast majority of the current crop of politicians to do the right thing by tightening the laws against corruption and corrupt practices is inept. Give a madman a hoe and we know what he wouldn't do. This is where I'm going.
I'm yet to come across a Nigerian who doesn't, on a daily basis, curse this aberration of a government or vituperate against its bum of a head; but this will not get us anywhere. This is why it is our mission in 2015 to vote with our heads and hearts, and not with our feet. We must be audacious in our choice of candidates and hope for a fresh start. We must stop the rot and stand up to be counted. We must dislodge our destiny from their tenacious grasp if our country is to stand a chance of survival and sustainable peace and prosperity. Talk is cheap, but decisive action is priceless. We can do it, and do it, we must.
It is a waste of precious time and energy to continue to listen to the enunciations of the amoral mouthpieces of this government. Name me one that has a modicum of moral fibre in him or her; discreditable and discredited, the whole lot of them. I am just sick to the back teeth of seeing incandescent youngsters roaming the streets with no hope while brainless politicians carve out billions of Naira among themselves daily. It is heart-wrenching to see people who have been impoverished by the avarice of the very people who were supposed to look after their welfare.
While this idiotic government should be actively seeking ways to ameliorate the scourge of unprecedented high unemployment in our country, Mr. President opened his foul mouth in Malawi to beg them to export rice  to Nigeria! Can you believe it? According to experts, Malawi cultivates rice on 58,000 hectares of land, while Nigeria has a cultivable 4.6 million hectares. Is it hard to spot the absurdity of this buffoonish President? When with government foresight and matching action, rice paddies should be overwhelming the country, with the attendant inflow of income from rice exports and the provision of employment for millions of our people. Rather than focus on reality, he proposed to introduce N5000 notes to the economy. The so-called CBN governor even had the guts to call those opposed to this insanity 'illiterates'. Can you imagine? Stuff goes on in this country that we could almost be said to be living on another planet. I have never seen a more dysfunctional government, nor even read of one. Disaster.
A good friend once reminded me of a statement in John F Kennedy's inauguration speech in 1960: "IF A FREE SOCIETY CANNOT HELP THE MANY WHO ARE POOR, IT CANNOT SAVE THE FEW WHO ARE RICH." Enough said.
