YES, WE CAN; NO, WE WON'T

To date, I haven't come across a sane argument against the opprobrium being heaped on this hopeless, and helpless, Jonathan administration (or shall I say, non-administration?) To date, no member of this insanely purposeless administration has come forward with a coherent analysis of the myriad of problems Nigerians are having to contend with on a daily basis. To date, it's been all talk and no action; a lot of roaring but no biting.
Who says nothing's changed? Of course things have changed, for the worse! Could it possibly get any worse? It could, and it most certainly will. There's no doubt about that. Why this pessimism? Why this negativity? Why this sense of hopelessness? This writer, as incurable an optimist as he is, has come to the realisation that nothing good will ever come out of this disgrace of an administration. Indeed, nothing remotely approaching good will ever come out of this disreputable National Assembly, which amasses scandals like a kid does sweets in a sweet shop. What about down the political chain? How many governors inspire confidence? How many State Assembly members have honour and integrity? Conscientious Local Government Chairmen? Forget it. Fraud-free Federal and State ministries? You're having a laugh! Ah, sorry, the Police Force, EFCC, ICPC, NNPC, SEC, CBN; the list of good-for-nothings is endless. All of these insensitive and unfit-for-purpose organs of government feed the forever-parched throats of so-called entrepreneurs and business moguls, hare-brained opportunists who think it's their business acumen that got them their illicit riches. Considering all of these and more, would anyone with a semblance of grey cell be ecstatic with optimism? Could the mongrelness of this buffoonish political establishment allow for a meaningful change of course? Can we, then, as a people, change the course of history? Yes, we can; but no, we won't with these duplicitous has-beens and common criminals at the helm of power. Clear as mud.
It is impossible for this country to make any meaningful progress with dopey Jonathan in charge. As if the avalanche of problems he is patently incapable of handling were not overwhelming enough, his wife has just been appointed a Permanent Secretary in his home State of Bayelsa! A woman that left the Civil Service in 1999 being made a Permanent Secretary in 2012? This country is in deep trouble; in a quagmire of political irresponsibility and moral decadence. This is the worst administration in the history of this country, headed by  the most useless and spineless President ever known to mankind. What more damage could he and his cohorts possibly do? you may ask. Mark my word, by the time 2015 comes around, Nigeria will have been set back 50-odd years; two generations wasted in a reckless and cavalier manner.
According to the Yoruba adage, 'Orisa gbe mi, to ba le gbe mi, fi mi si'le bo se ba mi.' (Improve my lot, but if you can't deliver, leave me as I was.) The current political class needs to be exterminated, in the political sense, and made to pay for the ruination they have brought on the long-suffering people of this country. Two-and-a-half years seems like an eternity away, but it is the best chance we have to defenestrate these maggots wasting away our commonwealth; the best opportunity we'll ever have, as a people, to wrestle our common destiny from their blood-soaked hands. As I write, thousands are dying from curable ailments; innocent people are living in acute danger of terrorist attacks and armed robberies, and millions are contemplating where the next meal is coming from. Yet, billions are being looted as I write, and plots are being hatched on how to transfer the stolen billions abroad. Even as I write, the thieves in power are concretizing plans to steal our votes in 2015, to elongate their reign of terror and hopelessness, and to prolong the excruciating pain of ordinary Nigerians.
Unbeknownst to these rabid crooks and thieves, their nemesis is just round the corner, but their arrogance has blinded them. The era of thieves investigating thieves will be over; peace will return to the land; prosperity will once again become a valid aspiration; and hope restored. It's only a matter of time.
