Not exactly taxing to comprehend the reasons for the paucity of policy ideas in the intellectual space, it borders on the impossibility to fathom the participation, in the discourse, of the very same rogues who have ensured the continuous disaffection of the Nigerian people, and their disillusionment with the discredited political class, and system.
Judas Iscariot extolling the virtues of loyalty and raging against the acts of betrayal would equate perfectly with these political morons preaching to the converted. This is not a metaphor too far. Adolf Hitler condemning the Hungarian invasion, and while he's at it, waging war against anti-Semitism and giving shelter to all disabled people, would equate perfectly with these brutish and unrepentant spoliators of our national wealth. This is not a metaphor too far.
When have these spineless thieves decided to deluge the moral terrain with their show of pseudo-contriteness, and an air of quasi-patriotism, by telling us exactly what we know is wrong with them in the first place? One by one they come forward beseeching us to be patient and steadfast while they pick our pockets without mercy and without ceasing. One after the other they gatecrash fora announcing, with much glee, one phantom policy after the other. They come forward in tandem, at every given opportunity, and promise us the 'dividends of democracy' that we know are harder than the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to get. In unison, they roundly condemn those exposing their insanity and their devilish destruction of our country and accuse them of 'heating up the polity'; not minding the imponderableness of their own irrational and bogus plans to get us out of the peculiar mess they have dumped us all in.
While seasoned and serious politicians in proper democracies clearly demonstrate a keen understanding of their political ideologies, there is no delineation of anything remotely resembling an ideology among our politicians. Their only ideology is to thief endlessly and to see their own people suffer endlessly. We talk and holler until we are blue in the face, and write until our wrists are sore. Still they defend their ideology of thieving using all the tools at their disposal, both lethal and non-lethal. They threaten, they harass, they maim and they kill. Anything or anyone that threatens their merry-go-round is despatched with the speed of a hungry lion feasting on a fresh kill. Still, we will not stop writing; we will not stop talking; neither will we stop hollering. They will be ruthlessly bitten, and they will be roundly beaten.
Whether they like it or not, all the fuel subsidy thieves, and others like them, will pay a heavy price sooner, rather than later. All the belly-endowed thieves in power will forcibly enter a season enforced fasting, not in penitence, but in punishment. Payback time is coming and they'll have nowhere to hide. Nigerians will make them pay, big time. Their rabid attack dogs will fall easy prey to the irate tigers of the Nigerian people.Watch.
Judas Iscariot retracing his steps and humbly begging for forgiveness for his acts of disloyalty and betrayal would equate perfectly with these political morons preaching to the converted. Now then, that is a metaphor too far. Adolf Hitler apologising to Hugo Gutman by making reparations to the Jews before he went too far (remember it was Gutman, a Jew, who awarded the Iron Cross, First Class, to the then 29-year old Hitler. Hitler promptly had him incarcerated by the Gestapo before eventually escaping to the USA). Again, that is a metaphor too far.
The theme here is devilish betrayal, uninhibited dishonesty and downright cruelty. What happened to both? They took their own lives. I'm sure you can see the theme in our contemporary politics. The parallel is not too difficult to spot. Go round the streets of Nigeria, you will see the cruel conditions we are having to deal with. Go round the streets of Nigeria, you will see what dishonesty has caused us as a nation. Go round the streets of Nigeria, you will see the extent to which these cruel and dishonest politicians and public officials have betrayed our trust and trampled upon our hope. That's not even talking about the complete absence of security and the risible conditions of our age-old infrastructure.
We will conquer and we will recover. Nigeria is a phoenix that will rise up again from the ashes of unprecedented wilful and wanton assault on its cultural, social, religious and economic fabric.
