THE SHAMED DUMBASS

The furore surrounding the PRSTF report submitted by Ribadu last week cannot possibly surprise most Nigerians. You see, "those whom the gods wish to destroy they first make proud." In my piece, The Perfidious Hypocrite,  (http://9jainc.blogspot.co.uk/2012/02/perfidious-hypocrite.html), I said, among other things, "As Chairman of the PRSTF, does the Mallam expect to have a substantial influence in policy formulation and decision-making? If he does think so, then he is even denser than previously suspected. He is a lone sheep among a vicious pack of wolves and his voice will be drowned out. Nothing good will come out of it and it will end in tears. That’s as certain as night follows day. Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has lost credibility; damaged his reputation, and irreparably depleted the little political capital he had with Nigerians."
Almost as soon as the task force began its work, Jonathan deemed it fit to appoint, Orosanye, who was the Vice Chairman of the panel, to the Board of the NNPC. Much noise has been made of Ribadu's intelligence, but not a modicum of it was on display when he didn't even suspect that there was a likelihood of conflict of interest. Who first came out to rubbish the final report? Orosanye. He challenged the saneness and validity of the report of a panel he was a senior member of because the report implicated him in one (Addax Petroleum & US$1.5 billion)) or more ways.
Even the stupendously foolish Okupe has now come out, on behalf of Jonathan, to pour scorn on the report. The report is now discredited, and most unsurprisingly, Ribadu's reputation is in tatters and he's rendered himself a lame duck and he's been rightfully reduced to a laughing stock.
The report will now go the way of the numerous ones before it, the dust-bin; and the stain of involvement will be on the mallam forever. His pride has precipitated his fall.
Can I have a cup of coffee to go with my dose of schadenfreude, please?
